The Crooks Memorial Chancel choir went on a musical mission to Sicily from 18 - 28 March 2011. The tour began with our arrival in Taormina, a small town on the east coast of Sicily, where our choir presented a formal concert at the Cathedral. Next, we enjoyed a full-day excursion to Syracuse, including visits to the Catacombs of John.
Continuing to the Mt. Etna zone, we visited the picturesque village of Zafferana. We also spent a full day in Palermo, where we will visit the Palazzo dei Normanni, the Church of St. John of the Hermits, the Quattro Canti and the Convento Dei Cappuccini.
We returned to Italy and the city of Naples. Next we traveled to Pompeii, where we explored the well preserved remains of this ancient Roman town. Finally we ended in Rome, the Church of St. Peter in Chains, Roman Forum and the Coliseum. It was an exciting time, but we are glad to be home to share our experiences with you.
