Report of the Discipleship Team meeting 3/30/21
We continue to be in prayer about the purpose of this team as it looks for ways to lead our church members in spiritual growth practices that “grow” disciples of Jesus.
We want to ensure that our church is offering many and varied opportunities for spiritual growth. To that end, you are invited to complete this short 3-question survey. We hope folks will prayerfully respond and the gathered results (anonymous) will be part of a central message in a worship service led by the Discipleship Team. This is an exciting time for our church as we look forward to in person worship and gatherings. Your responses to this survey will be important to this fresh start within our fellowship. We are looking for NEW members for the Team
Please let Laura Whitefleet-Smith, Pastor Lisa, or any of the other members know if you would like to join us for the monthly meetings. Members are Buck Mandeville (who will be on a 6 month hiking trip from April-October), Mary Randolph and Beth Pile.
Pastor Lisa will be on vacation and away from phone, email, and text from Monday, April 5th through Sunday, April 11th. During this time, Rev. David Magruder from Zion UMC will provide pastoral coverage for any emergencies or needs. Feel free to contact the church office or Pastor David directly outside of office hours at: 757-879-2363.
Additionally, the church office will be closed on Monday, April 5th, and will close early at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 8th.
Friends, let us renew the tradition of flowering the cross outside the church in preparation for Easter Sunday. We will do this with COVID precautions in mind and thus invite you to come before Easter to add your contribution. Please consider bringing and adding flowers anytime on Friday (April 2nd) or Saturday (April 3rd). If another household is adding flowers when you arrive, please wait until they are finished. Have a mask on hand in case needed to briefly converse with anyone on church property. We look forward to a beautiful cross on Easter morning!
Additionally, if you have pictures of you or others in front the annual flower cross (from one or multiple years) please send them to Pastor Lisa. She is hopeful that if we receive enough we might incorporate them into the Easter Virtual Worship Service. Please send them to her no later than Tuesday, March 30th.
Join us Sunday at 10:00 a.m. on Facebook, YouTube or Sermon-By-Phone when we will conclude our "Rend Your Hearts" Worship Series. This week's message will be "Written on the Heart." To prepare in advance we invite you to read and reflect on Jeremiah 31:31-34.
